Princeton senior Lindsey Biles has been named one of five women's finalists for the Tewaaraton Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding player in collegiate women's lacrosse.
Biles joins Virginia's Amy Appelt, the 2004 Tewaaraton winner, as well as Dartmouth's Katieanne Christian, Duke's Katie Chrest and Northwestern's Kristen Kjellman in the finalist group. The Tewaaraton winner will be announced June 2 in Washington, D.C.
The Ivy League Co-Player of the Year and a first-team All Mid-Atlantic Region selection, Biles led the Tigers with 55 goals and 71 points in 2005. She scored four or more goals seven times and had at least two points in all 18 games. Biles also finished the season with a team-high 27 draw controls.
The Annapolis, Md., native concluded her career second all-time at Princeton in both goals (175) and points (221). Her 55 goals in 2005 equaled her total from last season and was just one short of tying the program single-season record of 56 goals set by Cristi Samaras in 1998.
Princeton has now had a Tewaaraton Trophy finalist in each of the five seasons the honor has been awarded. Theresa Sherry was a finalist in 2004, Rachael Becker won the award in 2003 and was a finalist in 2002, while Julie Shaner was a finalist in the award's inaugural year of 2001.
