Princeton women's lacrosse players Jennifer Austin, a 2005 graduate, and soon-to-be senior Anita Rackovan have each been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) National Honor Roll for the 2004-05 school year.
Winners of the award must be juniors or seniors academically and have earned a grade-point average of at least 3.2 for the 2005 spring semester.
Princeton also earned a Team Academic Award from the IWLCA for achieving a team grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher during the 2004-05 academic year.
Austin, who majored in Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School program, was a team tri-captain for the Tigers in 2005. A native of Warwick, R.I., she played in 15 games on defense in 2005, starting eight, and had seven ground balls and seven caused turnovers on the season.
Rackovan, also a defender, played in just one game in 2005 before a knee injury suffered against Loyola ended her season prematurely. The Doylestown, Pa., resident and philosophy major had a first-half assist earlier in that game.
Austin and Rackovan were two of 19 Ivy League women's lacrosse players to be named to the IWLCA Honor Roll. Princeton was one of six league schools to earn academic standing for a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The Tigers finished 13-5 overall in 2005, falling to eventual national champion Northwestern in the NCAA quarterfinal round. Princeton reached the NCAA tournament for the eighth consecutive season.
