Women's Squash Stays Perfect With Sweep At Brown
December 02, 2006 | Women's Squash
PROVIDENCE, R.I.
? The Princeton women's squash kept its perfect opening of the 2006-07 season intact by sweeping Brown Saturday afternoon in its first venture away from the Jadwin Squash Courts. Each player won 3-0, and 11 of the 27 games were won by either 9-0 or 9-1 scores.
"I thought the team played very consistent and very focused," head coach Gail Ramsay said afterwards. "We dominated the play in each match and stayed aggressive. I was very pleased with our effort today."
No. 1 player Neha Kumar, coming off her title at the 2006 Constable Invitational, topped Brown's Erin Andrews 9-1, 9-4, 9-6. Senior teammate Claire Rein-Weston, playing No. 2 this season for the first time since early in her freshman year, is looking dominant at that spot. She dropped only four points in the three games for a comfortable win.
Princeton's other starting freshmen, No. 3 Amanda Siebert and No. 7 Kaitlin Sennatt, both won comfortable matches, and each claimed 9-0 wins in the middle games. Junior Carly Grabowski stayed perfect for her career in the regular dual-meet season with a win at No. 6.
Princeton will play its final match of the 2006 portion of the season Sunday afternoon at Williams College.
