PRINCETON - Six different Tigers pulled out individual wins and the Class of 2006 was honored in Friday's home finale for the Princeton women's swimming and diving team. The Orange and Black made sure its seniors went out winners, as Princeton topped Columbia 123-96 in its final meet in Denunzio Pool.
The Tigers jumped out to a quick lead by claiming the 200 medley relay in 1:46.90. Seniors Kitsie Kerner, Sarah Schaffer and Chrissy Macaulay, along with sophomore Katie Miller, gave Princeton that early edge, and most of them would come back later for individual victories.
Joelle Milov won the first individual meet of the night, the 1000 free, in a time of 10:29.68. Lisa Hamming followed with a win in the 200 free in 1:53.70. By the time Miller came back with a win in the 50 free (24.24), the Tigers had a well-established advantage. That lead would be fortified in the 50 free by second- and third-place finishes by Suzanne Rossi and Nikki Laffel.
Senior co-captain Whitney Ryan won the 200 IM in 2:09.98, and Brittany Delgado led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 fly with a time of 57.85. Miller and Kerner finished second and third in the event. Macaulay topped teammates Justina DiFazio and Brett Shiflett to win the 100 free in 53.06, and Schaffer also topped a 1-2-3 Princeton finish in the 100 breast (1:05.82).
Katie Giarra (3-meter) and Gayle Rudofsky (1-meter) put up the top scores in their respective diving competitions.
Besides the afore-mentioned members of the Class of 2006, the other seniors honored on senior night included Jamie Adams, Eileen Altenburger, Jess Case, Libby Engelmeier, Katie Fiorella, Aly Spencer, and Andrea Szewchuck.
