Tigers Defeat Syracuse, 6-1, Improve to 3-2 in Spring

After losing a tough doubles point, the Princeton women's tennis team dominated in singles on the way to a 6-1 victory over Syracuse in a match played at the Jadwin Gym tennis courts Friday night.
Alison Hashmall lost just two games at No. 2 singles to earn a win, while Ivana King won at No. 3, 6-4 and 6-2. Freshman Kelly Stewart won at No. 6 by scores of 6-4 and 6-3, and the Tigers clinched the match at No. 4 when Christine Kansky won in two tough sets, 6-4 and 7-5.
The Tigers improved to 3-2 on the spring with the victory.
Both Jessica Siebel, at No. 1, and Joanna Roth, at No. 5, won in three sets for Princeton in singles.
King and Siebel also won at No. 1 doubles, winning in a tiebreak after Syracuse had clinched the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3.
Princeton hosts Temple at Jadwin Gym Sunday afternoon.
