Princeton Fencing Competes in Final Day of Ivy Fencing Championships on Sunday

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's and women's fencing teams competed in the first day of the two-day Ivy League Championships last Sunday at Cornell. This Sunday at Columbia, the conference crown will be decided. The Tiger men enter at 2-0 and the women are 1-2 with bouts against Yale, Columbia and Harvard remaining.
Last weekend, the men's team knocked off Brown 18-9 and Penn 14-13. Sunday at 11 a.m., the Tigers take on Yale, which went winless on the meet's first day. Columbia follows at 1 p.m. after winning three of four last weekend and the two currently undefeated teams meet up at 3 p.m. when the Tigers face Harvard.
The women's team won its opening match against Cornell 17-10 but fell to Brown 14-13 and Penn 16-11. Princeton faces winless Yale at 11 a.m. on Sunday, followed by 3-1 Columbia at 1 p.m. and undefeated Harvard at 3 p.m.
Each team is seeking its first Ivy title since 2001. Individually, All-American senior foil Jacqueline Leahy will be putting her 24-0 dual meet record this season on the line on Sunday.
This weekend marks the last dual-meet competition for either Tiger team. The following weekend, Princeton individuals will compete in Junior Olympic competition with regional and national meets ahead.
