Sure. It's still early. But Princeton's matchup with Cornell in women's lacrosse Saturday afternoon at Class of 1952 Stadium (noon) is no doubt an important one.
The 12th-ranked Big Red come to Princeton 2-0 in league play, joining the 1-0 and No. 8 Tigers as the only Ivy teams to still be unbeaten after having played a league game.
The Tigers (3-4, 1-0), who defeated Columbia 16-7 Wednesday night, have won 18 consecutive games against Cornell (6-1, 2-0) dating back to the 1989 season. Princeton leads the all-time series by a 25-2 margin.
Cornell's Ivy wins, over Columbia and Penn, have come by a combined 26-7 margin. The Big Red enter Saturday's game on a five-game winning streak overall.
Saturday will mark Princeton's fifth game in eight games this season against a team currently ranked in the top 12 in the IWLCA poll. In addition to the Big Red, the Tigers have played No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Johns Hopkins, No. 4 Georgetown and No. 6 Virginia.
Saturday's game can be heard live at GoPrincetonTigers.com with Ed Benkin on the call. The Princeton men host Yale at 3 p.m. following the women's game.
