Princeton women's lacrosse player Lauren Vance has been named as one of 21 women's collegiate nominees for the 2006 Tewaaraton Trophy honoring the national player of the year.
The award will be presented in Washington, D.C., on June 1. The list of 21 will be narrowed to a field of five finalists in May.
Vance, a four-year starter on defense for Princeton, leads the Tigers in both ground balls (25) and caused turnovers (16) this season. She is also one of Princeton's team captains in 2006.
A second-team All-America and first-team All-Ivy pick as a junior in 2005, she led Princeton field players in ground balls and also led the Tigers in caused turnovers last season.
Vance has started each of Princeton's last 49 games.
The Tewaaraton Trophy is now in its fifth year of existence. Princeton's Rachael Becker won the award in 2003.
