Princeton was fortunate to have four seniors playing important roles throughout the 2005-06 men's tennis season. Sunday, those seniors sent the Tigers out on a high note against Cornell.
Seniors Hans Plukas and Darius Craton won in singles, and Craton was joined by classmate Shannon Morales to win at No. 3 doubles, as Princeton defeated Cornell 5-2 in the regular-season finale.
The Tigers (7-13, 2-5 Ivy) lost a tough doubles point but rebounded well in singles, winning five of the six matches. Plukas defeated Dan Brous 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4, while Craton came back from a set down to defeat Josh Raff 6-0 and 7-5 in the final two sets.
Princeton got impressive wins at both No. 1 singles from Sratha Saengsuwarn and No. 5 from Alex Vuckovic. Saengswuarn defeated Brett McKeon 6-3 and 6-3, while Vuckovic lost just five games in a win over Kyle Doppelt.
Craton and Morales defeated McKeon and Doppelt 8-6 at No. 3 doubles point. Cornell won the point thanks to a 9-7 win at No. 1 and a 9-8 win at No. 2.
Jonathan Leslie also won in singles for Princeton, splitting sets with Tongle Yu at No. 6 before winning a third-set proset.
