After a week that saw the Princeton women's lacrosse team get back to .500 overall and take the early lead in the Ivy League race, the Tigers step out of conference Tuesday when they visit Temple for a 4 p.m. game at Geasey Field.
Princeton (4-4, 2-0 Ivy), which defeated Cornell by a 10-6 score Saturday, has defeated the Owls in each of the last seven seasons. The teams have played at least once every year since 1991.
Temple is also 4-4 this season after an 11-10 in at Rutgers on Friday. Nicole Cataldo scored the game winner for the Owls with just more than six minutes left in the second half of that game.
Princeton freshman Holly McGarvie was named the Ivy League's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring six goals and grabbing 11 draw controls in two Tiger wins this past week. McGarvie has started all eight games, has nine goals and leads the Tigers in both draw controls (24) and ground balls (20) this season.
The Tigers scored on 10 of their 19 shots against Cornell on Saturday. In their four wins this year, Princeton has scored on 55 of its 107 shot attempts (51%).
The Tigers defeated Temple by a 10-8 score at Class of 1952 Stadium last season. Princeton led just 8-7 with under six minutes left but scored twice late in the game to take a three-goal advantage.
Princeton returns to Ivy League play Saturday afternoon when its hosts Yale at Class of 1952 Stadium (2 p.m.). The Tigers are now a league-best 2-0 in Ivy play with their wins against Columbia and Cornell last week.
