PRINCETON - Senior captain Patrick Neundorfer will continue his hockey career professionally next season as he has recently signed a contract with the Rosenheim Starbulls, a member of the Oberliga, the third professional division in Germany. Neundorfer was a two-time captain for the Tigers and graduated with 60 career points. He missed just three games in his collegiate career.
Rosenheim is located in Bavaria, in the Alps, and is a 45-minute train ride from Munich and 20 minutes from the Austrian border. The team has a great reputation in Germany, with a highly respected coach, and has consistently been at the top of their league.
"I am very excited to be a part of their program," says Neundorfer. "I hope to have a great first season in Germany and have options to either stay in Europe or come back to the states to play professionally."
Neundorfer will be one of three or four imports that the team will sign, as they are limited to signing five non-German players. The other four will also likely come from NCAA Division I hockey schools.
"I had the opportunity to start a career in New York City this year in the financial sector as a sales trader, but it has always been my dream to play professional hockey," says Neundorfer. "I chose to play overseas to get the cultural experience that I missed from never studying abroad, but most importantly, to keep doing what I love. My experience at Princeton, both on and off the ice, has prepared me well for making this transition."
Neundorfer made his professional debut with the ECHL's Trenton Titans this spring, following the conclusion of the Princeton hockey season.
