Penn Defeats Princeton in Sprint Football, 50-15
September 29, 2006 | Sprint Football
Mike Loguidice threw four touchdown passes and Penn limited Princeton to 11 yards rushing for the game as the Quakers defeated the Tigers, 50-15, in a sprint football game played at Princeton Stadium Friday night.
Though LoGuidice threw only 13 passes, he was efficient, completing nine, four of which were four touchdowns. He was helped by a strong Penn running game that gained 190 yards on 42 attempts, led by Matt McConville's 74 yards on the ground.
Penn (1-1) took a 21-0 lead after the first quarter thanks to a Loguidice touchdown pass to Tom Altamirano early in the quarter and runs from J.T. Hutchinson and McConville later in the quarter. Princeton (0-2) put points on the board with 2:05 left in the first half after a Penn turnover in its own territory, with quarterback Alex Kandbarow scrambling for a three-yard touchdown to make the score 28-8 at halftime.
Kandabarow finished 16 for 50 through the air for 186 yards and a touchdown, which came to Lon Johnson on a nice 23-yard pass into the right corner of the end zone in the fourth quarter. The Tigers went five plays for 70 yards in just 1:26 on that drive, with Johnson catching two of the final three passes.
Johnson caught five balls on the night for 103 yards overall.
Penn scored twice on Loguidice touchdown passes in the third quarter to take a 43-8 lead, then got its final points midway through the final quarter when Greg Hollander intercepted a Kandabarow pass and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown.
Michael Schoder led Princeton with 25 yards rushing on eight attempts. Penn sacked Kandabarow three times.
