Tigers Host American in Men's Soccer Friday Night
September 07, 2006 | Men's Soccer
The Princeton men's soccer team looks to remain unbeaten on the season and head out on a six-game stretch away from home with positive momentum when the Tigers host American Friday night at Lourie-Love Field.
Game time is 7 p.m., and you can follow the game live via GameWatcher at GoPrincetonTigers.com.
The Tigers (1-0-1) got a come-from-behind win at Loyola this past Sunday, scoring three times in a 30-minute span in the second half to defeat the Greyhounds 3-1. All three goals were the first career goals for the respective goal scorers, as junior Dan Cummins, senior Zach Schwarz and junior Mike Jester all found the net. Schwarz's goal was the game winner for Princeton.
Princeton's three-goal effort at Loyola was its biggest scoring output since the 2004 season, when the Tigers defeated Saint Peter's by a 4-2 score.
Princeton and American (2-2-0) are meeting for the 10th consecutive season, with the Tigers having a 5-3-1 advantage in the previous nine meetings. Princeton won at American by a 2-1 score last season.
The Eagles began the season with wins over Howard and Georgetown and the D.C. College Cup before falling to Duke and North Carolina State last weekend.
Friday night's game is Princeton's last home until an Ivy League match against Dartmouth Sept. 30. The Tigers will play at FDU next Tuesday, two neutral-site games at Penn next weekend and then travel to Rutgers, Yale and Bucknell before returning home to face the Big Green.
