This Week's Storylines
Tuesday Hockey
The Princeton men's hockey team completes its home-and-home series with travel-partner Quinnipiac on Tuesday night at the Northford Ice Pavilion.
Last Time Out
Princeton has its four-game win streak snapped by Quinnipiac by a 2-0 score on Saturday night at Hobey Baker Rink. The teams played 45 minutes of scoreless hockey before Jamie Bates scored from a short angle to put the Bobcats ahead. Bates added an insurance goal into the empty net with 44 seconds remaining to seal the win for Quinnipiac.
Still Going Strong
Despite Saturday night's loss, Princeton is 6-2-1 in its last nine games dating back to a three-point weekend at Dartmouth and Harvard during the Thanksgiving weekend. Princeton is 3-1-1 in league play and 3-1-0 in non-league action during that span.
The Wrong Side of a Shutout
Princeton was shut out for the first time this season on Saturday night. In fact, it was the first time this year the Tigers were held below two goals. Princeton was shutout in league play for the first time in 32 games, dating back to a 0-0 tie at Union in the final regular-season game of the 2004-05 season.
Four Straight Wins
Princeton's four-game win streak that ended on Saturday was its longest since the 1998-99 Tigers defeated Vermont, Army, Cornell and Colgate in January of 1999.
The .500 Mark
Princeton's loss to Quinnipiac on Saturday dropped the Tigers a game under .500 for the season at 7-8-2. Princeton's 6-1-1 run had moved Princeton to the .500 mark at 7-7-2 after starting the season 1-6-1.
Tournament Win, Well Kind Of
Even though it wasn't scheduled as a holiday tournament, Princeton's weekend played out that way. On the first night, Princeton edged Nebraska-Omaha and Minnesota State edged Yale. The following night the two winners met with Princeton winning at Baker Rink, and the two losing teams met at Yale and skated to a 4-4 tie.
Too Close for Comfort
If it seems like most Princeton games come down to a single goal, it is because they do. Twelve of Princeton's 17 games this season have been decided by a goal or ended in a tie. Of the other five games, four were decided by two goal margins and one had a four goal margin. The Quinnipiac game was a one-goal game until an empty-netter made the final 2-0.
Scoring Consistency
Princeton was one of four teams in the nation to score at least two goals in every game entering last Saturday night. That night, both Princeton and Cornell were held under two goals, leaving Maine and New Hampshire as the only teams remaining in college hockey to have scored two or more goals in each game. Princeton is the only team in the nation to have at least two goals scored against it in every game this season.
The Opponents
The Series With Quinnipiac
Princeton and Quinnipiac met for the first time last season as each team picked up a win on the road. Quinnipiac won the series opener at Baker Rink 3-2 on a goal with 1:06 remaining in regulation and four days later, Princeton won 6-3 thanks to a three-point performance from Brandan Kushniruk in a game played at Yale. Quinnipiac won its second-straight game at Baker Rink three days ago and now leads the series 2-1-0.
Scouting the Bobcats
Quinnipiac is 9-5-4 overall and 6-2-3 in the ECAC Hockey League entering Tuesday night's game. The Bobcats sit atop the ECACHL standings and are also ranked 19th in the latest USCHO.com poll.

With a Two Man Advantage
Princeton converted on its first 5-on-3 power play in the Rensselaer win. The Tigers had been held goalless in nine previous chances, but had allowed five two-man advantage goals. Princeton also scored with the two-man advantage against Minnesota State and is now 2-for-11 in 5-on-3s while opponents are 5-for-11 against Princeton, including a chance for Quinnipiac on Saturday.
Staying Out of the Box

Spreading the Puck Around
Princeton has received points this season from 20 of its 24 skaters. Seventeen different players have scored goals and 17 players have tallied assists. Every player that has appeared in at least half the games has recorded a point.
Immediate Impact
Princeton's freshman class has had an immediate impact. Eight of the nine skaters have recorded a point and seven of those have scored goals.
Scoring More…
Princeton has scored 81 goals in each of the past two seasons. Last season the Tigers did it despite the graduation of two of its top-three scorers from the previous season. That number is 19 more than the total of 62 that Princeton scored in 31 games two seasons ago. Princeton is on pace to score 97 goals in 31 games this year.
Individual Notes
Four-Pointer
Sophomore Brett Wilson had a hand in all four Princeton goals in Saturday's win over Minnesota State. It was his first career four-point game and his first multiple-point game of the season. Wilson scored Princeton's third goal on the power play and then assisted on the other three goals, including setting up the game winner in the final minute of play.
Save that Puck
Freshman Kevin Kaiser broke a 1-1 tie with a breakaway goal in Friday's win over Nebraska-Omaha. The goal was the first of his career and came in just his third game played.
Jub-ilant
Sophomore Lee Jubinville has recorded seven points in his last seven games. He only had one point over the weekend, but the one point was the overtime game-winning goal against Nebraska-Omaha and was his second-straight game-winning tally.
Cam Can
Freshman Cam MacIntyre posted his first two-goal game as he opened and closed the Princeton scoring in the Tigers win over Minnesota State. MacIntyre had a single goal to his credit entering the game.
Closing in on 100
Senior Grant Goeckner-Zoeller picked up an assist on the power play in the Tigers' win over Minnesota State. Goeckner-Zoeller, who has points in 11 of 15 games this season sits six points away from reaching the 100-point mark for his career.
The Hottest Hand
Senior Max Cousins has garnered 11 points in his last nine games, three points more than he had totalled in the first 55 games he played in his career. Cousins has three multiple-point games in that span, including a three-assist night in the win over Rensselaer. He also had a six-game point streak that ended against Quinnipiac and set up the overtime game winner against Nebraska-Omaha.
Three Great Performances in Goal
Freshman Zane Kalemba and senior B.J. Sklapsky put together strong outings in Princeton's last three games. Two Fridays ago, Kalemba improved to 6-4-1 overall by making 27 saves against Nebraska-Omaha. A day later, Sklapsky stopped 33 shots to pick up his first win of the season, which came over Minnesota State. On Saturday Kalemba made 28 saves against Quinnipiac.
