MacIntyre Named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week
October 29, 2007 | Men's Ice Hockey
Princeton sophomore forward Cam MacIntyre was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on Monday following his four-point performance in the team's season-opening win over Yale. MacIntyre recorded his first collegiate hat trick in the win.
MacIntyre finished the 2006-07 season with a strong finish and carried it into the start of the 2007-08 season with his big night at Yale. MacIntyre's name appeared all over the scoresheet Friday. Tied 1-1 in the second period, MacIntyre put Princeton ahead for good when he scored on a rebound early in the second period. Just over a minute later, he made a perfect backhanded pass to sophomore Jody Pederson who hammered it into the Yale net for the eventual game winner.
MacIntyre completed the natural hat trick later in the second period. The second goal came when he batted a loose puck out of the air and into the goal, and his third goal came just a few minutes later. MacIntyre's second and third goals were assisted by juniors Lee Jubinville and Brett Wilson, who both finished the night with three assists apiece.
MacIntyre's four-point night was a career-high, as were his three goals. He became the first Princetonian to record a hat trick in a game since Patrick Neundorfer did the trick on Oct. 30, 2004 in a 5-5 tie with Alabama-Huntsville. There were 95 games played between the two hat tricks.
MacIntyre completed the weekend with an assist on Princeton's second goal in a 5-0 exhibition shutout against the Ontario Institute of Technology.
