This Week's Storylines Last Week First Point This Week's Opponents
Drop the Puck
Princeton jumps into league play this weekend with games at Cornell and Colgate. The Tigers have tuned up for league play with three games thus far, winning its opener against Yale, as well as a pair of exhibition wins.
Last Time Out
Sophomore Cam MacIntyre had three goals and an assist to lead Princeton to a 6-2 season-opening win at Yale last Friday night. Juniors Brett Wilson and Lee Jubinville both had three assists in the win.
A Good Way to Start
Saturday's win counted towards Princeton's record but not towards the ECAC Hockey standings. With the win, Princeton is now 2-0-1 in its last three season openers, topping Notre Dame 5-3 in 2005-06, tying Bentley 3-3 in 2006-07, and defeating Yale 6-2 this season.
Exhibition Experience
Princeton also played on Saturday, shutting out the Ontario Institute of Technology 5-0 in the second game of the Shootout at Ingalls. Freshman Mike Kramer scored two goals in the exhibition win and Lee Jubinville had a goal and an assist. The win was Princeton's second exhibition win of the season. Princeton also topped Trois-Rivieres a week earlier, by a 5-3 score, in a game played at Baker Rink.
Scoring Strength
In three appearances this season, the Tigers have scored a combined 16 goals, five in each exhibition game and six against Yale.
Balanced Attack
Princeton's 16 goals this season have come from 10 different scorers. The Tigers have had one player score multiple goals in each game so far. Sophomore Kevin Kaiser had two goals against Trois-Rivieres, Cam MacIntyre had three goals against Yale and Mike Kramer had two goals against Ontario I.T.
Player of the Week
Cam MacIntyre was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on Monday following his four-point performance on Friday at Yale. MacIntyre scored three goals in the win, plus had the primary assist on the game-winning goal. MacIntyre added an assist against Ontario I.T. the next day.
Win #1
Princeton used a five-goal second period to record its first win of the 2007-08 season on Friday night at Yale. Princeton's line of Cam MacIntyre, Lee Jubinville and Brett Wilson combined for 10 points in the win and were on the ice for four of the Tigers' six goals.
Five in the Second
Princeton's scored five goals in the second period of the win at Yale. Princeton did not score more than four goals in any period. Princeton last scored five goals in a period on Feb. 25, 2005 in a 5-2 win at Rensselaer.
Turning the Trick
Cam MacIntyre's hat trick on Friday at Yale was the first by a Princetonian since Patrick Neundorfer did the trick on Oct. 30, 2004 in a 5-5 tie with Alabama-Huntsville. There were 95 games played between the two hat tricks.
Stepping Up From the Blueline
Sophomore Jody Pederson scored the game winner on Friday at Yale. Pederson scored his first collegiate goal in the final game of the 2006-07 season and now has goals in his last two games. He also scored in the exhibition win over Trois-Rivieres played between the Dartmouth game last season and the Yale game this season.
Three Helpers
Juniors Lee Jubinville and Brett Wilson each had three assists in the Yale win. Wilson and Jubinville are Princeton's top-two career returning scorers. Both players scored goals in Saturday's exhibition win.
Freshman Taylor Fedun earned his first collegiate point, an assist on Princeton's first goal at Yale. The goal was scored by junior Brandan Kushniruk.
Between the Pipes
Sophomore Zane Kalemba made 27 saves to earn the win against Yale. Junior Thomas Sychterz and freshman Alan Reynolds combined to shutout Ontario I.T. the following day.
