Back-To-Back Action For Women's Lacrosse As Ivy Season Concludes This Weekend
April 26, 2007 | Women's Lacrosse
The Princeton women's lacrosse team concludes its Ivy League season this weekend with a rare weekend of back-to-back games, hosting Columbia at Class of 1952 Stadium at 3 p.m. Friday before facing Brown at the same time Saturday in the back half of a men's/women's doubleheader.
The Tigers are 9-0 against Columbia since the Lions reestablished a varsity program in 1997, and Princeton has not lost to Brown since the 1991 regular season.
A pair of wins this weekend would give the Tigers (7-5) a 5-2 Ivy League finish, a game behind second-place Yale and two games behind 2007 Ivy champion Penn. A pair of victories would also clinch a winning season for the Tigers for the 10th straight year.
Princeton got a huge win last Saturday at Dartmouth, jumping out to a 9-4 halftime lead on the way to a 13-9 victory over the Big Green. Kathleen Miller had four goals, while Katie Lewis-Lamonica and Kristin Schwab each had three, as the Tigers ended a three-game losing streak to the Big Green.
Miller, with 187 career points (124 goals, 63 assists), needs eight points to pass Amory Rowe '95 and move into sixth place all-time on Princeton's scoring list.
Princeton's 2002 NCAA championship team will be recognized at halftime of the Brown game on Saturday. The Tigers won their final 19 games that season and set school records for wins, goals and points in a season on the way to the program's second NCAA title.
Columbia (5-9, 0-6 Ivy) concludes its season with Friday afternoon's game against the Tigers, while Brown (4-9, 1-4 Ivy), led by former Princeton assistant coach Keely McDonald, is looking to end a 15-game losing streak against the Tigers.
