Jungers, Trombino, Sowanick Selected In Major League Lacrosse Draft

The 2006 Major League Lacrosse championship game between the Denver Outlaws and Philadelphia Barrage featured five Princeton alums. If the 2007 game is a rematch, that number will swell by three.
Princeton seniors Zachary Jungers and Scott Sowanick were selected by the Outlaws in the 2007 Major League Lacrosse draft Wednesday night, while teammate Peter Trombino was selected by the Barrage.
Penn State midfielder Pat Heim was the first overall pick, chosen by the Chicago Machine.
Jungers was the 14th overall selection, going with the fourth pick of the second round to the Outlaws. Jungers, a first-team All-America defenseman for the Tigers, was the third defenseman taken in the draft. Sowanick was the Outlaws' next selection, going 29th overall with the ninth pick of the third round. Sowanick, who started every game of his career at Princeton at either midfield or attack, was a first-team All-Ivy League and third-team All-America selection as senior.
Trombino went two picks before Sowanick, 27th overall, when the Barrage took the attackman. Trombino, like Sowanick, also started every game of his career and was a two-time All-America.
The Barrage defeated the Outlaws in last year's MLL championship game. Princeton alums B.J. Prager, Ryan Boyle and Matt Strieblel play for the Barrage, while former Tigers Trevor Tierney and Josh Sims are on the Outlaws.
