Amy Altig Added to Women's Lacrosse Coaching Staff

Amy Altig, a two-time all-conference goaltender at James Madison and most recently an assistant coach at Richmond, has been added to the Princeton women's lacrosse staff, head coach Chris Sailer announced.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Amy Altig to the Princeton lacrosse coaching staff,” Sailer said. “Amy's expertise in coaching goalkeepers will bring a new dimension to our program and will help solidify our team defense as a whole. Having worked with Amy for many years at our camps, I know how passionate she is about our program and what a good fit she will be with our coaching staff and our players. We look forward to the many contributions she will make to Princeton."

Altig was the Spiders' top assistant coach for the past two years, during which Richmond won a pair of conference titles and made the NCAA tournament field twice. Altig's work with the defense and goaltenders helped Richmond lead the Atlantic 10 with a goals-against average of 8.10. Under Altig's tutelage, goaltender Jackie Swansburg earned A-10 Defensive Player of the Year honors last season.

Prior to her tenure at Richmond, Altig was named second-team All-CAA in both 2003 and 2004 while at James Madison. As a senior, Altig ranked in the top 20 in Division I in both save percentage and goals-against average. She earned a place on the South team at the North/South STX Senior All-Star Game that season.

Outside of collegiate lacrosse, Altig has been a member of the USA national developmental team since 2003.

Altig, a native of Millersville, Md., graduated from JMU in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sports management.
