PRINCETON -- Elliott Corey ran for two touchdowns and threw three touchdown passes as Cornell topped the Princeton sprint football team 40-14 on Friday evening at Powers Field at Princeton Stadium. Andrew Dixon threw a touchdown pass and ran one in for the Tigers in the loss.
Cornell jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Corey hit Michael Brennan on a 26-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter. Cornell missed a field goal in the quarter, but added to its lead with two touchdowns in the second quarter. The first came on a 22-yard touchdown run by Corey and the second on a 17-yard touchdown pass to Upal Sarker.
Up 20-0 at the half, Princeton got on the scoreboard at 11:41 of the third quarter when Dixon scored on a seven-yard touchdown run after Cornell turned over the ball in their end on a bad snap. Cornell answered with a score, but the Tigers got the final touchdown of the quarter when Dixon connected with Anthony Soroka for a 45-yard touchdown pass.
That was as close as Princeton would get as Cornell added two fourth quarter touchdowns. Princeton is now 0-3 overall and 0-2 in league games. The Tigers host Navy next Friday night at 7 p.m.
