Men's Water Polo Downed 11-6 at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell scored six unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from the 12th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team in an 11-6 win on Friday night. Seniors Brendan Colgan and Alex Edmunds scored twice in the loss.
The teams went back and forth in an opening period that ended tied at 2-2 but Bucknell scored the only two goals of the second quarter to lead 4-2 at the break. Princeton came out following halftime and scored to move within a goal at 4-3, but could get no closer before Bucknell broke the game open with six straight goals. Princeton closed the game with three goals in the final 2:03 of the game.
Princeton was 4 for 7 in man-up situations in the game and missed one 5-meter chance. Junior Matt Hudnall and freshman Tommy Donahue added single goals, while sophomore Mike Merlone made seven saves in the game.
Princeton fell to 8-8 overall with the loss and is now 3-1 in Southern Division play. The Tigers have a league game tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. against George Washington and will play Mercyhurst in a non-league game later in the day.
