Three Members of the Princeton Lacrosse Program Selected to US World Cup Training Team

PRINCETON, N.J. (10/21/08) ? Three members of the Princeton women's lacrosse program have been selected to the U.S. World Cup training team, it was announced by the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA) on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Senior Holly McGarvie and assistant coaches Michele DeJuliis and Amy Altig have been chosen to the 24-player roster. McGarvie is one of just seven current college players selected to the team.
The training team was selected from a 48-player pool that competed at the US Lacrosse Stars & Stripes Weekend in Syracuse on Oct. 11-12.
The training team will hold a practice weekend in December and will compete along with the remaining 24 players from the player pool during the US Lacrosse Champions Challenge in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., from Jan. 30 - Feb. 1. The final 18 players for the World Cup and six alternates will be selected following that event.
That team will represent the U.S. at the 2009 World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic on June 17-29, as they look for their sixth world title. In the last World Cup in 2005, the U.S., placed second to Australia. The upcoming World Cup will feature a record 16 nations.
