Sprint Football Hosts First-Year Program Mansfield
October 23, 2008 | Sprint Football
A sprint football matchup that has the potential to entertain and will definitely make history takes place Friday night on Powers Field at Princeton Stadium. Princeton, looking to snap a 53-game CSFL losing streak, hosts Mansfield, which is playing just the third sprint football game in its history.
Mansfield is the new kid on the sprint football block, and the school located about an hour north of Williamsport and about four hours from Princeton has clearly embraced the sport. The Mountaineers have played two games, both at home, and they have averaged 3,475 fans. The school is sending its student radio station to broadcast the game.
Mansfield is 0-2 in sprint football in its first year, with a 35-0 loss to Cornell and a 34-12 loss to Penn. The team has not played since Oct. 4, which means it will have had 20 days off prior to taking on Princeton, and it will finish its season next week at Cornell.
The Tigers, on the other hand, bring an 0-4 record into the game. Princeton has not won a CSFL game since opening the 1999 season with a win over Cornell, though Princeton did defeat a club team from VMI in 2005.
