WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Positive trends continued for the Princeton women's soccer team Tuesday afternoon at American as the Tigers won their fifth straight match by shutout, 4-0.
Sarah Peteraf scored twice in the first 30 minutes for her sixth and seventh goals of the season, while Barb Previ earned her first collegiate goal in the 47th minute and Lauren Whatley scored her second of the season less than 20 minutes later.
Between the posts, Alyssa Pont played the first half and Kristin Watson saw her first collegiate action in the second. Pont had Princeton's only save of the day. The shutout extended Princeton's streak to 490 minutes. The Tigers outshot American 9-7.
American was the second of four Patriot League teams Princeton will face this season. The shutout streak started against Princeton's first such opponent of the season, Colgate on Sept. 23.
The Tigers will return to Ivy League play against Brown Saturday at 4 p.m.
