Men's Hockey Rolls to 8-2 Exhibition Win

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Senior Brett Wilson and junior Kevin Kaiser each had three points as the 10th-ranked Princeton men's hockey team defeated the Ontario Institute of Technology 8-2 in an exhibition game on Saturday afternoon at the Showcase at Meehan.
Princeton scored three goals in the opening period to pull ahead in a game that was never in doubt. Princeton added another three goals in the second period and two in the final stanza.
The Tigers opened the scoring at 9:18 when freshman Marc Hagel scored from sophomore Sam Sabky. Junior Dan Bartlett made it 2-0 three minutes later and sophomore Matt Arhontas scored the eventual game winner 10 seconds after that.
OIT's Derrick Bradshaw scored midway through the second period to make the score 3-1, but goals by sophomore Cam Ritchie, Wilson and Kaiser stretched Princeton's lead out to five by the end of the period. Wilson and senior captain Brandan Kushniruk added third period goals.
Wilson had two goals and an assist in the win, while Kaiser had a goal and two assists. Arhontas and junior Mark Magnowski added two points apiece in the game.
Senior Thomas Sychterz made five saves and sophomore Alan Reynolds stopped seven shots as the two goalies split the game. Sychterz was credited with the win.
Princeton is 1-0-0 overall and opens its home schedule next Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. against Cornell. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
