Women's Tennis Outlasts St. John's, 4-3, Improves To 3-0

Junior Kelly Stewart won the clincher for Princeton at No. 6 singles as the Tigers earned a hard-fought 4-3 women's tennis victory over St. John's in a match played at the Jadwin Gym courts Friday afternoon.
Stewart won the first set in a tiebreak over Jenny Yonkus before closing out the match with a 6-3 second-set win, giving the Tigers (3-0) a 4-2 match lead.
The Tigers earned all four of their points in singles after St. John's (1-0) won the doubles point. No. 1 Melissa Saiontz, No. 2 Ivana King and No. 5 Sarah Hoffman all earned convincing straight-set victories, with Hoffman not losing a game in a victory over Ashley Harper.
King and Saiontz also won for Princeton at No. 1 doubles, defeating Yonkus and Alison Adamski by an 8-3 score.
Princeton plays at No. 15 William & Mary Sunday morning. Match time is 11 a.m.
