No. 2 Penn State Sweeps Men's Volleyball In EIVA Action
February 16, 2008 | Men's Volleyball
The No. 2 Penn State men's volleyball team topped Princeton 30-19, 30-16, 33-31 to move to 14-0 overall and 4-0 in the EIVA Tait Division. Princeton, who was led by the incredibly efficient hitting of Jeff McCown, falls to 3-5, 1-3 in the Tait, although the Tigers have yet to play a league match at home.
Penn State, which was won 19 of the last 20 EIVA championships, hit .366 for the match and limited the Tigers to a .128 attack percentage. That would have been much lower if not for McCown, who killed nine of his 10 shots without an error. Senior captain Peter Eichler recorded a match-best 15 kills and added four digs and three blocks.
Junior Brandon Denham had 33 assists for Princeton, while McCown had a team-best five blocks. Princeton will begin a seven-match homestand with three contests at Dillon Gym this week. The Tigers open with a Tuesday contest against Rutgers-Newark at 7 p.m.
