Wilson Named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week
February 25, 2008 | Men's Ice Hockey
Junior forward Brett Wilson was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on Monday following his four-point performance over the weekend in Princeton's sweep of Colgate and Cornell. Wilson had a goal and an assist in each game.
On Friday against Colgate, his breakaway pass sprung junior linemate Lee Jubinville on a shorthanded break that resulted in the game-winning goal. Later in the game, he scored on a breakaway of his own for his team-leading 12th goal of the season in a 7-2 Princeton win.
One night later, he had the primary assist on Princeton's first goal, which was scored by sophomore defenseman Jody Pederson, and then scored the game-winner on the power play in a 2-1 win over Cornell. It was his fourth game-winning goal of the season. Wilson was +4 for the weekend and had 10 shots on goal.
The four-point weekend lifted Wilson's point total to 29, which ranks second on the team in scoring and is a new career high. Wilson is also tied for the team-lead in career points with Jubinville. Both have 73 points for their careers.
Wilson and the Tigers sewed up a top-two finish in the ECAC Hockey standings and take on first-place Clarkson on Friday night on the road.
Princeton also clinched a first-round playoff bye and will host an ECAC quarterfinal series on March 14-16. Tickets for the playoffs are available now by calling (609) 258-4TIX or clicking here.
