Katie Lewis-Lamonica Named Ivy League Offensive Player Of The Week
March 11, 2008 | Women's Lacrosse
Katie Lewis-Lamonica, who tied a career high with seven goals to lead Princeton to a big win over No. 3 Duke, has been named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week in women's lacrosse for games ending March 9.
Lewis-Lamonica, who also scored seven goals in a win over Temple last season, had each of Princeton's first four goals as the No. 7 Tigers took charge early in the game. She then scored two straight goals to begin a four-goal second-half run by Princeton that put the game away.
The senior from Lawrenceville, N.J., had played sparingly in Princeton's season-opening win at Johns Hopkins and did not play against Rutgers after sustaining an ankle injury in practice before the season.
Lewis-Lamonica is just the sixth Princeton women's lacrosse player to score seven or more goals in a game. Prior to her seven goals against Temple last season, no Tiger had scored seven or more in a game since 1990.
The Tigers will play at Penn State Saturday before returning home for two games during Princeton's Spring Break, a Wednesday afternoon game March 19 against James Madison and a Saturday afternoon game March 22 against second-ranked Virginia.
