Erin Tochihara Named Ivy League Defensive Player Of The Week

Princeton freshman goalie Erin Tochihara, who helped the Tigers earn a come-from-behind victory at Penn State Saturday, has been named the Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games ending March 16.
Tochihara played the entire second half for Princeton against the Nittany Lions and had three saves and two ground balls, One of her saves was on a free-position shot, while another came with the game tied at 5-5, giving the Tigers possession and eventually leading to the go-ahead goal for Princeton midway through the second half. Princeton eventually won the game by a 7-6 score.
The Englewood, Colo., native also played the entire second half March 5 against Rutgers and had six saves. In her two appearances off the bench this season, she has an outstanding 52.9% save percentage.
Tochihara is the second Princeton player to be honored with an Ivy League award this season. Senior Katie Lewis-Lamonica was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week last week after scoring seven goals in Princeton's win over then-No. 3 Duke at Princeton Stadium March 8.
The Tigers (4-0) host James Madison Wednesday afternoon (2 p.m.) and Virginia Saturday afternoon. (1 p.m.). Both games will be played at Class of 1952 Stadium.
