Unbeaten Women's Lacrosse Hosts James Madison Wednesday Afternoon
March 18, 2008 | Women's Lacrosse
Fourth-ranked Princeton is off to its first 4-0 start since the 2004 season. The first of two home challenges to that unbeaten record this week comes Wednesday against James Madison in a unique Wednesday afternoon game on Princeton's spring break.
Game time is 2 p.m., and live streaming video at the Tiger Zone and free live audio will be available at GoPrincetonTigers.com.
The Tigers had to come from behind Saturday at Penn State to stay undefeated, winning 7-6 after trailing 3-0 in the first half and 5-4 early in the second half.
Sophomore Kaitlin Donovan made two big plays late in the game for Princeton, scoring with 6:54 left to give the Tigers a 7-5 lead and then getting a key caused turnover and ground ball in the final two minutes as Princeton ran out the clock on a victory.
The Princeton defense has been stout in the first four games, allowing just 27 goals (6.8 gpg), including just 11 combined goals in two road games. The goalie duo of sophomore Kaitlyn Perrelle and freshman Erin Tochihara has also been solid, allowing just four goals on 18 free-position attempts this season. Tochihara was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after her second-half performance at Penn State.
James Madison is now 3-3, with all three losses coming to ranked teams, and on a two-game winning streak after defeating Richmond 11-10 on Saturday.
Princeton and James Madison are meeting in women's lacrosse for the first time since the 2000 NCAA semifinals. The teams played eight straight years in the regular season from 1990-97, with the Tigers winning seven of those eight games.
