Undefeated Tigers Host Virginia In Top Five Women's Lacrosse Showdown
March 21, 2008 | Women's Lacrosse
One of the best rivalries in collegiate women's lacrosse visits Class of 1952 Stadium Saturday (1 p.m.) as Princeton and Virginia play for the 10th time in the last six seasons. This time, both teams are ranked in the top five in the latest IWLCA coaches poll.
Live video of the game at the TigerZone, as well as free live audio, will be available at GoPrincetonTigers.com. The unbeaten Tigers (5-0) are ranked No. 4 this week, while the 6-1 Cavaliers are ranked No. 2.
Princeton will look to reverse recent trends when it takes the field Saturday, as the Cavaliers have won three straight regular-season meetings between the teams and five of the last six meetings overall. Included in that stretch was UVa's 19-10 win over the Tigers in the NCAA tournament first round last May.
The Tigers, 5-0 for the first time since 2004, rolled past James Madison 17-10 Wednesday thanks to eight goal scorers, led by Ashley Amo's four goals and four assists. Princeton is averaging better than 15 goals per game at home this season.
Virginia had an impressive 16-5 win over ACC rival North Carolina last weekend. Six Cavaliers have already scored 10 or more goals this season as UVa has outscored its opponents 91-52 through seven games.
