No. 7 Women's Lacrosse Hosts No. 3 Duke Saturday At Powers Field
March 07, 2008 | Women's Lacrosse
Third-ranked and undefeated Duke heads to Princeton averaging more than 16 goals per game. The Tigers put up 16 themselves in a win over Rutgers Wednesday, so Saturday's game could be the third straight offensive shootout between these two teams after a 16-14 Duke win last season and a 13-11 Duke victory here in Princeton Stadium two seasons ago.
The No. 7 Tigers had nine goal scorers in their 16-8 win over Rutgers, with junior Christine Casaceli scoring a career-high four goals to lead the way. Senior Ashley Amo had two goals and three assists for Princeton, which led 8-2 at halftime and never led by fewer than five goals in the second half.
The Tigers and Blue Devils combined for 75 shots in last year's 16-14 Duke victory, a game in which Princeton fell behind 7-2 midway through the first half and could not recover. The Tigers pulled within 10-8 at halftime of that game and 12-11 when Katie Lewis-Lamonica scored with 10 minutes left but could not get the equalizer.
