Holly McGarvie Named One Of 18 Nominees For Tewaaraton Trophy

Princeton junior women's lacrosse player Holly McGarvie has been named one of 18 nominees for the Tewaaraton Trophy, presented by Warrior Lacrosse and honoring the national player of the year. The players on the list were nominated by coaches across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse.
McGarvie, a midfielder, leads Princeton in ground balls (26), draw controls (22) and caused turnovers (16) this season and is second on the team with 20 goals. She has scored a goal on nearly 60 percent of her shot attempts.
The Medford, N.J., native is the only player from the Ivy League among the 18 nominees for the Tewaaraton Trophy. The field will be pared to five finalists for the trophy in May; the winner will be announced at the annual awards banquet May 29 in Washington, D.C.
The Tewaaraton Award Foundation, in conjunction with The University Club of Washington, D.C,. formally established the Tewaaraton Trophy on August 29, 2000. Today, the Tewaaraton Trophy is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award honoring the top female and male varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States.
Princeton's Rachael Becker won the Tewaaraton Trophy following the 2003 season.
