Men's Soccer Travels to Monmouth for a Mid-Week Game on Sept. 25

PRINCETON, N.J. (9/23/08) ? The Princeton University men's soccer team will make the short trip to West Long Branch, N.J., to take on Monmouth University on Thursday, September 25 at 3 p.m.

Princeton is undefeated in the all-time series with Monmouth, 3-0-1. In the last meeting, in 2005, the Tigers recorded a 5-0 shutout victory in the season opener.
Princeton and Monmouth have one common opponent in Seton Hall. Monmouth lost to Seton Hall 1-0 in overtime on Aug. 29, while Princeton defeated Seton Hall 3-1 on Sept. 14.
The Tigers are 1-4 on the season and are coming off of two close losses to nationally-ranked squads, UIC and Northwestern. At the top of the scoring column are sophomores Teddy Schneider and Brandon Busch with four points apiece. Senior Brad Fechter and juniors Josh Walburn and Devin Muntz each have two points. Senior Joe Walter and sophomore Sean Lynch have both seen playing time in net this season. Walter has an 0-2 record with a 2.00 goals against average and a .667 save percentage. Lynch owns a 1-2 record with a 1.33 GAA and a .692 save percentage. All five of Princeton's goals have come during the second half.
The Hawks are 3-1-1 on the season with wins over Fairfield, Rider and Delaware. Monmouth is led offensively by Chase Barbieri, who has scored four goals, three of which have been game-winning goals and one assist for nine points. Ryan Kinne has seven points with a team-high three assists and two goals. Bryan Meredith has been in net throughout the season for the Hawks and has a .917 save percentage and a 0.38 GAA with three shutouts. Like Princeton, Monmouth finds its firepower in the second half, scoring five of its six goals in the second 45-minute half.
