Women's Tennis Claims Pair of Wins in Spring Season Openers

PRINCETON -- Princeton opened its spring season Wednesday in Jadwin Gym with a sweep of Temple that saw the Tigers get all three doubles wins and all six straight-set singles victories over the defending Atlantic 10 champions. Later in the day, the Tigers beat Rutgers 6-1.
In individual highlights, rookies featured prominently in Princeton's lineup. Lauren McHale and Hilary Bartlett were the top doubles teams and handled Temple's top pair of Josephine Bergman and Lucie Pazderova, 8-1. The Tiger pair then went on to claim singles victories over two other Owls, with McHale at first and Bartlett at second. Rachel Saiontz, another freshman, played one spot behind her junior sister Melissa Saiontz in the singles ladder at third and fourth.
Bartlett and McHale pulled another doubles win against Rutgers. In singles play, Bartlett took over the top spot and got a win while McHale sat out the nightcap. Rebecca Parks and Sarah Huah filled in for McHale and Blakely Ashley in the day's second match with the lineup juggled.
