Princeton Women's Lacrosse Earns No. 7 Billing

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/3/09) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team is ranked No. 7 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association preseason poll that was released on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
Four-time reigning champion Northwestern earned 19 of the 20 first-place votes. Syracuse captured the remaining first-place vote to earned second place. Duke and Virginia round out the top four.
Princeton collected 280 points, just five behind Maryland and an overwhelming 44 points ahead of eighth-place Georgetown.
Eight of the teams ranked in the poll are on Princeton's schedule, and seven of those games will be played on the road. The Tigers begin the season hosting No. 15 Johns Hopkins and take on No. 3 Duke on March 7. In a trip to Virginia, Princeton will take on No. 16 James Madison before tackling No. 4 Virginia. Returning home, the Tigers will begin the Ivy League season at No. 16 Cornell. Ivy League champion, Penn, ranked No. 5 host Princeton on April 15. The Tigers close out the regular season at No. 6 Maryland on May 2.
