Women's Lacrosse Takes on Penn State on Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. (3/13/09) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team hosts Penn State on Saturday, March 14, in a battle between the No. 7 and the No. 15 teams, at 1 p.m., at Class of 1952 Stadium.

Princeton leads the all-time series with Penn State, which began in 1982, by a slim 17-12 margin. The Tigers have won three of the last five meetings, including a 7-6 victory in University Park last season.
Princeton returns home after a one-goal loss to No. 4 Duke last weekend. The Tigers are 2-1 overall, after defeating Johns Hopkins and Rutgers here at Class of 52 Stadium. Leading the Tigers offensively is senior Holly McGarvie who has scored five goals and added four assist for nine points. She leads the team in ground balls and draw controls with 12 each and in caused turnovers with seven. McGarvie has scored four of her five goals off of free position attempts, going 4-for-8 from the eight-meter arc. Classmate Christine Casaceli has eight points, while sophomore Lizzy Drumm has seven. Drumm along with junior Kristin Morrison have a team-best six goals. Senior Kristin Schwab has gone 3-for-3 from the eight-meter and has eight ground balls, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Marie McKenna has caused seven turnovers and picked up seven ground balls on the defensive end. Sophomores Erin Tochihara and Kaitlyn Perrelle have each seen time in net. Tochihara has a 9.22 goals against average and a .571 save percentage making 28 saves on 49 shots. Perrelle has a 12.48 GAA and a .400 save percentage, stopping six of 15 shots.
Penn State is off to a 4-1 start, winning all four games at home. The team recently lost an overtime game at Virginia. Erica Mihm and Marisa Lozano are at the top of the scoring column with 14 and 13 points each. Kerry Shea has scored the most goals on the team with nine, while Megan Megan has collected a team-best eight helpers. Jackie Eastman has 15 ground balls while Theresa Zichelli and Shea have 10 apiece. Leading the team at the center circle is Mihm with 13 draw controls, while Shea has 12. Breaking up the most plays is Zichelli with seven caused turnovers. Stephanie Ellis has started all five games in net and has a 7.32 GAA and a .491 save prcentage, stopping 27 of 55 shots. Dana Cahill has played in four contests and has made nine saves on 14 shots for a 3.93 GAA and a .643 save percentage.
