Women's Lacrosse Takes on Temple in Mid-Week Match

PRINCETON, N.J. (3/23/09) - The No. 9 Princeton women's lacrosse team returns home from its spring break trip to host Temple on Wednesday, March 25. The opening draw is set for 7 p.m., at Class of 1952 Stadium.
The game will be webcast on Tiger Zone for registered users. Fans may also listen to live play-by-play and follow live stats free of charge.
Princeton has an 18-8 edge in the all-time series with Temple, which dates back to 1982. The Tigers have won the last 10 meetings, with the Owls' last win coming in 1998.
Princeton is 5-1 on the season and coming off of a big 8-7 win over No. 7 Virginia. The Tigers have won the last three straight games, all of which have been over nationally-ranked opponents. Five of Princeton's six games have been against top-ranked teams, with its lone loss at No. 4 Duke.
Junior Kristin Morrison has a team-best 11 goals, while seniors Holly McGarvie, Christine Casaceli, Kristin Schwab and sophomore Lizzy Drumm have 10 apiece. McGarvie has a team-high eight helpers to go along with her 10 goals to sit in first place in the scoring column with 18 points. Casaceli has 15, Drumm 14, Morrison 13, and Schwab and senior Sarah Steele have 10 points each. McGarvie leads the team in ground balls with 18, draw controls with 22 and in caused turnover with 11. Classmate Marie McKenna also has 11 caused turnovers. The two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, sophomore Erin Tochihara has started in five of six games between the pipes and has a 5-1 record to go along with an 8.71 goals against average and a .570 save percentage. She has made 61 saves on 107 shots. Junior Kaitlyn Perrelle has seen over 40 minutes in net and has a .400 save percentage and a 12.48 GAA.
Temple is 0-6 this season and is coming off of a 14-7 loss at Delaware. The Owls are averaging 8.36 goals and allowing 13.70 goals per game. Freshman midfielder Melissa Schweitzer is the team's leading scorer with eight goals and one assist for nine points. Senior Brittney Hoffman and freshman Karly Cohen have eight and seven points, respectively. Junior defender Tracey Zimmer has collected a team-high 14 ground balls and a team-best eight caused turnovers. Junior goalie Jessica Colucci also has 14 ground balls. She has started all six games and has a .423 save percentage and a 13.57 goals against average, making 52 saves on 123 shots. Freshman Tess Bishop has seen limited time as the back-up goalie, and sports a 14.66 GAA and .214 save percentage in 45 minutes of play.
