March 23, 2009 | Women's Swimming and Diving
As Princeton's only two competitors at the 2009 NCAA Women's
Swimming and Diving Championships, Alicia Aemisegger and Katie Giarra
combined to help the Tigers to an 18th-place finish in the field. It
was the highest finish for any non-scholarship program and the
second-highest finish for any non-BCS school. Their efforts earned both competitors the Princeton Athlete of the Week honors, sponsored by Army ROTC.
Aemisegger earned
three more All-America honors, moving her career total to 10, and set
Princeton records in the 500, 400 IM and 1650. She placed third in the
400 and fourth in the 1650. She is the three-time reigning Ivy League Championships Swimmer of the Meet and is a perfect 9-for-9 in individual finals during the league championships.
