Women's Lacrosse Hosts Rutgers in Mid-Week Game

PRINCETON, N.J. (3/2/09) ? The Princeton women's lacrosse team will host Rutgers on Wednesday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. game. The game was moved to Princeton after fields at Rutgers were deemed unplayable.

The Tigers lead the series, which began in 1975, 11-2-1. Princeton has won the last five meetings, with its last loss coming in 1982.
The Tigers are 1-0 on the season after defeating No. 13 Johns Hopkins in the season opener, 13-9, last Saturday. Kristin Morrison leads the team with four goals, including the game winner of Hopkins. Sophomore Lizzy Drumm also has four points, while senior Holly McGarvie has three. McGarvie also leads the team in draw controls with six, and caused turnovers with three. Senior Kristin Schwab has picked up the most ground balls on the team, with seven against Hopkins. Erin Tochihara got the start last Saturday and made six saves on 11 shots for a .545 save percentage and a 6.42 goals against average. Kaitlyn Perelle also saw playing time, making two saves on six shots to start the second half.
Rutgers is 1-1 on the season after opening up with a 16-9 win over Temple before falling 8-7 in four overtimes at Cornell on Saturday. Junior Brooke Cantwell leads the Scarlet Knights in scoring, tallying six goals, while freshman Annie McGinley has five points off of four goals and an assist. She also scored the game winner over Temple. Senior Nina Frankoski, junior Mary Cryan and sophomore Jennifer Schmitt have four points apiece. Karie McGuire has a team-best four caused turnovers, while McGinley leads the team in draw controls with five. Frankoski, junior Emily Penn and sophomore Mary Moran have four ground balls apiece. Senior Sandra Abel is Rutger's starting goalie and has a 7.97 goals against average and a .467 save percentage. Back-up goalie snior Katherine Parker has seen just over nine minutes and made three saves on four shots.
