Women's Lacrosse Honors its Seniors This Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/22/09) ? It will be Senior Day at Class of 1952 Stadium on Saturday, April 25 for the Princeton women's lacrosse team. The Tigers host Brown at 3 p.m., in part two of a doubleheader with the men's team.
Princeton will recognize its nine seniors: Christine Casaceli, Katie Cox, Marine Graham, Caity Manzo, Holly McGarvie, Marie McKenna, Anne Murray, Kristin Schwab and Sarah Steele.
In addition, members of the 1994 National Championship team will be back at 52 Stadium. The team will be honored in its 15th anniversary of winning Princeton's first national title in women's lacrosse.
The game will be webcast on TigerZone, and free audio and live stats will also be available.
Princeton has an impressive 27-3 record against Brown in the all-time series that began in 1980. The Tigers began the series winning six straight meetings before the Bears posted a 9-8 win in 1986. Princeton has won the last 18 games with Brown, including a 15-2 score from last season.
Princeton enters its final Ivy League contest of the season in second place in the standings with a 5-1 record. The Tigers are 11-2 overall and ranked No. 5 in the Inside Lacrosse poll and No. 6 in the IWLCA poll.
Senior Holly McGarvie is at the top of the scoring column with 40 points coming off of 24 goals and team-high 16 assists. She also leads the Tigers in ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers. McGarvie has 40 ground balls, 41 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers. Sophomore Lizzy Drumm has contributed 36 points, and senior Kristin Schwab has 30 points off of a team-best 28 goals and two assists. Five other Tigers are in double digits in scoring. Senior defender Marie McKenna is at the top of the list behind McGarvie in ground balls with 34 and has caused 26 turnovers. Sophomore Erin Tochihara has an 11-2 record as the starting goalie. She has a .578 save percentage and a 7.03 goals against average, making 108 stops on 187 chances.
Brown enters the weekend with a 6-7 overall record and a 2-3 mark in the Ivy League, which places it fifth in the standings. Brown has lost its last three games, including a 14-4 game versus Penn its last time out. The squad's last win was on April 7, a 21-6 victory over Bryant.
Freshman Katelyn Caro is the team's leading scorer with 24 goals to go along with four helpers for 28 points. Classmate Kaela McGilloway has 26 points coming from 14 goals and 12 assists. Senior Jesse Nunn has 25 points, while three additional players are in double digits in scoring, including junior Molly McCarthy who leads the team in assists with 13. Senior Lauren Vitkus has the most ground balls on the team with 25, as well as the most caused turnovers with 22. Junior Kiki Manners has 18 caused turnovers. Freshman Isabel Harvey is the squad's starting goalie. She has a .371 save percentage and an 11.13, stopping 73 of 197 shots.
