Women's Lax Hosts Loyola in Last Home Game of the Regular Season

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/27/09) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team hosts Loyola on Wednesday, April 29, in its final home game of the regular season. The opening draw is set for 7 p.m.
The game will be webstreamed on Tiger Zone, and live play-by-play and stats will be available free of charge.
Princeton leads the all-time series, 7-3. The teams traded wins the
first six meetings, before the Tigers rattled off four wins. Princeton
has won the last five meetings, dating back to the win over Loyola in
the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in 2003.
Princeton sports a 12-2 overall record entering its final home game of the regular season and is ranked No. 5 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll released this morning. The Tigers finished the Ivy League with a 6-1 mark for second place in the standings. The team is 7-0 when playing at Class of 1952 Stadium this season.
Senior Holly McGarvie is at the top of the scoring column with 42 points off of 25 goals and a team-best 42 assists. She also leads the team in ground balls with 40, draw controls with 44 and caused turnovers with 28. Sophomore Lizzy Drumm has 37 points, with seniors Kristin Schwab and Christine Casaceli collected 31 points apiece. Schwab has tallied the most goals on the team with 29. Sophomore Erin Tochihara has a 12-2 record as the Tigers' starting goalie. She has a .578 save percentage and a 7.03 goals against average, stopping 118 of 204 shots.
Loyola enters the weekend with a 10-5 overall record and a No. 16 ranking in the IL poll. The Greyhounds finished fourth in the BIG EAST with a 3-4 record. The team has one more game on its schedule, hosting Denver on Saturday, May 2.
Sophomore midfielder Grace Gavin is the team's sharp shooter, scoring 48 goals and 16 assists for 64 points. Classmate Abby Rehfuss is next on the list with 33 points, while junior Emily Gibson and senior Colleen O'Keefe have 36 points apiece. Sophomore Cara Fillipelli leads the team in ground balls with 40 and caused turnovers with 34, while Rehfuss has a team-high 42 draw controls. The Greyhounds utilize a two-goalie system, splitting each half between sophomore Meg Steffe and freshman Kerry Stoothoff. Steffe has a 5-3 record with a 9.63 goals against average and a .521 save percentage, stopping 86 of 165 shots. Stoofhoff sports a 5-2 mark with a 9.45 GAA and a .492 save percentage, making 61 saves and allowed 63 goals.
