Yale Hands Women's Tennis First Ivy Loss, 4-3
April 03, 2009 | Women's Tennis
PRINCETON -- For the second time this season, Yale squeaked by the Princeton women's tennis team by a 4-3 score. This time, it handed the Tigers their first loss of the Ivy League season.
Princeton won the doubles point when Hilary Bartlett's and Taylor Marable's 8-5 first doubles win clinched it, but the Tigers fell behind during singles play.
Rachel Saiontz won in straight sets at fifth singles, but Yale won the next four to clinch the match. Lindsay Clark's 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win over Taylor Marable at fourth tipped it to the Bulldogs before Barlett won at second singles to put the team finish within a point.
Yale had also defeated Princeton 4-3 in the final of the ECAC Championship in February.
Princeton will host Brown at noon Saturday at Lenz Tennis Center or in Jadwin Gymnasium in the event of inclement weather.
