McGarvie Garners Ivy League Player of the Week Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/6/09) - Senior Holly McGarvie was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week in women's lacrosse it was announced by the league office on Monday, April 6.
McGarvie was Princeton's leading scorer this week as the Tigers defeated Columbia and Yale to improve to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the Ivy League. McGarvie scored four goals and added four assists for eight points. She also led the team in all three supplemental statistical categories with nine draw controls, seven ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
On Wednesday against Columbia, McGarvie had two goals and two assists apiece. Tied at 1-1, McGarvie set up teammate Sarah Steele at 22:34 to give the Tigers the go-ahead goal and set up a five-goal Princeton run, during which McGarvie added an unassisted tally. She added another unassisted marker at 10:58 of the second and set up Anne Murray for the Tigers' final goal of the game. McGarvie led all players in the game in draw controls with five, while adding four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
On Saturday versus Yale, McGarvie fed Christine Casaceli for the game's first goal at 22:05 and set up Lizzy Drumm to make it 9-2 at the close of the first half. She scored her first goal of the day, an unassisted goal, five minutes into the second half and added a free-position goal that sealed the 15-6 win. McGarvie led all players in caused turnovers with five, while picking up four ground balls and four draw controls.
Fellow senior Marie McKenna was named to the weekly honor roll.
The Tigers host Harvard on Saturday, April 11 at noon.
