Women's Swimming/Diving Team Hosts Second Collegians for the Cure? 5K Run/Walk This Weekend
September 14, 2009 | Women's Swimming and Diving
On Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 10:00 am, the Princeton University varsity women's swim team will host Collegians for the Cure™. Collegians for the Cure™ is a 5K run/walk that will be held on the Princeton campus with the primary goal of raising awareness about cancer, and most specifically breast cancer.
This project has the unique goal of mobilizing the University community, including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff and alumni in order for them to come together on the University's campus. The project is the result of various collaborations between student-athletes, Princeton University administrators, and the Komen Foundation. While the primary goal for the event is to raise awareness about breast cancer through campus wide participation, the secondary goal is fiscal in nature. There is no registration fee, but the organizers are hoping for a $10 minimum donation upon entrance to the course. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
All members of the University community are invited to participate in Collegians for the Cure™. Visit the Princeton Varsity Club website for more information.
This year the event will be dedicated to a pair of members of the Princeton Swimming family: Mrs. Amy Egan Altenburger, who lost her courageous battle with cancer in May 2009, and Diana Shiflett, who passed away after a battle with ovarian cancer this past summer.
