Women's Soccer Defeats Brown for Third Ivy Win

A 42nd-minute goal that pinballed off the heads of Caitlin Blosser and Kalie Bartholomew into the net came directly from a Kacie Kergides corner kick and was the only score of the game.
Princeton goalkeeper Kristin Watson made five saves in the clean-sheet win, and the Tigers have allowed just one goal through the three Ivy matches.
It is the sixth time in the last 11 seasons - and first since 2007 - that Princeton has opened the Ivy schedule at 3-0. Though it is an advantageous position, with Princeton having made the NCAA tournament in four of those five years, the Tigers fell short three years ago.
Waiting for Princeton (7-4-0, 3-0-0) will be a Columbia team that knows it can take over sole possession of first place with a win. The Lions, who will host Princeton at 4 p.m. next Saturday, knocked off the only other team that started the season 2-0 Friday night at Penn.
Before that showdown, however, Princeton will play its last non-league game Wednesday when it hosts Lehigh at 7 p.m.
Brown drops to 5-4-3 overall and 0-2-1 in the Ivy with the loss and all three league games having been decided by one goal.
The Bears continued their two-goalkeeper tandem, with Amber Bledsoe giving up the goal and without recording a save. MC Barrett made two saves in her 45 minutes after the break. Princeton's best chance in the second half came when Lauren Whatley lofted a shot across the box that found the crossbar in the 64th minute.
