PRINCETON (10/28/10) - The Princeton men's soccer team takes its eight-game winning streak on the road to Cornell on Saturday, Oct. 30. The teams kick off at 7 p.m.

Princeton is on an eight-game winning streak and is 9-3-1 overall and is ranked No. 20 in the latest NSCAA national poll. The Tigers are unbeaten in the Ivy League with a 4-0 mark to sit in first place in the standings along with Penn who will play Brown on Saturday. The result of that game has the potential to affect the standings.Junior striker Antoine Hoppenot has scored seven goals and four assists for 18 points to sit atop the scoring column. Senior Josh Walburn has tallied six goals and a team-best five assists for 17 points. Four of Walburn's six goals have been game-winning goals. The pair is the league's top two scorers. Sophomore Lester Nare has eight points, while junior Manny Sardinha and sophomore Matt Sanner have seven points each. Seven other Tigers have two or more points. Senior captain Sean Lynch has started all 13 games in goal. He has four shutouts to his credit, allowing 14 goals on 69 shots for a 1.07 goals against average and a .797 save percentage. Lynch leads the league in saves and saves per game.
Cornell is 4-6-4 overall and 0-3-1 in the Ivy League sitting in last place in the standings. Cornell has lost its last three games, to Brown, Lafayette and Yale. The Big Red averages 12.1 shots and 0.93 goals per game while their opponents are scoring 1.00 goals per game on an average of 11.9 shots.Junior forward Chase Aaronson is the team's leading scorer with seven points off of three goals and one assist. Junior forward Franck Onambele and junior midfielder Jimmy Lannon both have six points. Onambele has tallied three goals and Lannon leads the team with four assists and one goal. Junior forward Will Odgen has five points and freshman forward Daniel Haber has four. Sophomore goalkeeper Rick Pflasterer has played every minute in goal and has allowed 14 goals on 60 shots for a 0.94 goals against average and a .767 save percentage.
Princeton leads the all-time series 48-35-12 since it began in 1908. The Tigers are unbeaten in the last three meetings including a 1-1 tie last year. That game featured a battle of the goalkeepers as Prineton's Sean Lynch made seven saves and Rick Pflasterer stopped 10 shots, as the Tigers outshot Cornell 24-13. Antoine Hoppenot put Princeton on the scoreboard in the 40th minute. Josh Walburn took a set piece from the top of the 18-yard box that went around the four-man wall and was saved by Pflasterer. Lester Nare broke the ball free and Hoppenot finished it with a short chip into the near corner. Matt Bouraee tied the game in the 68th minute when he and teammate Brett Sumpio had a two-on-one up the near flank. Lynch stayed to the right side in case Bouraee passed the ball back off to Sumpio who was closer to the touchline but Bouraee sent the ball across the box and in on the far side.
Princeton and Cornell have three common opponents, Brown, Harvard and Lafayette. Cornell tied Harvard and lost to Brown and Lafayette, while Princeton beat all three teams.
