Sprint Football Falls To Post 33-18
October 09, 2010 | Sprint Football
There was bound to be a celebration on Powers Field after Friday night's Princeton-Post sprint football game, which matched one team that had never won a game with another that hadn't won one in a few years.
When it was over, it was the new guys on the block with their white uniforms and green trim who were having a good time, while 30 yards or so away, the team in orange and black could only watch.
Post, a first-year CSFL team, used some big plays through the air to defeat Princeton 33-18 and win the first game in program history after losses to Penn and Cornell.
Princeton fell to 0-4 on the year.
Leading 7-6 in the second, the Eagles used a 27-yard pass to set up a three-yard touchdown run and then, after Princeton went three-and-out, used a 57-yard touchdown pass to build a lead of 20-6 at the half.
Princeton twice pulled within eight points in the third quarter, but Post answered both times with touchdowns of its own.
The last chance for the Tigers ended with a fumble on the Post 10 midway through the fourth. The Eagles then put together a 12-play, 87-yard drive that killed the rest of the clock. With a first-and-goal at the 3 and 20 seconds left in the game, Post took a knee rather than run up the score.
Benjamin Foulon recovered a fumble in the end zone for a Princeton touchdown and made four tackles, including two for loss.
Princeton's John Moffat carried 22 times for 122 yards, and Kees Thompson caught three passes for 83 yards.
Atraya Dixit had 14 tackles.
Post used two quarterbacks who combined for 292 passing yards.
Princeton is at Army next Friday.
