PRINCETON (11/22/10) -- The Princeton men's hockey team visits Quinnipiac on Tuesday night in a meeting of travel-partners. It will be the third game in five nights for both teams and will be televised live on NESN.
The Tigers enters the weekend with a 4-4-0 overall and 4-2-0 ECAC Hockey record after recording a split last weekend at home with a win over Harvard and a loss to Dartmouth. The Tigers continue to play in close games this season as both were decided by a single goal just as seven of Princeton's eight games have been.
Princeton topped the Crimson 1-0 on Friday as Mike Kramer's first period goal stood up and Mike Condon made 36 saves. A day later, Dartmouth overcame a 1-0 deficit to score three straight goals over the first and second periods. Kevin Lohry put the Tigers within a goal a minute into the third but the Tigers could get no closer in the loss. Eric Meland also scored in the game.
Princeton remains atop the ECAC standings, but is now tied there with 4-0 Yale, which has two games in hand on the Tigers. The pair sit a single point ahead of Dartmouth and Quinnipiac which each have seven points and 3-2-1 records. At this point of the season, a mere four points separate first place and 11th place.
The Tigers and Bobcats will play their third game in five nights on Tuesday when they meet at the TD Bank Sports Center. Princeton leads the all-time series with Quinnipiac 7-5-0 overall and is 4-2-0 in Quinnipiac home games, but 2-2-0 in the Bobcats' home arena. Last season the team's split with each winning at home. Quinnipiac won 5-1 at home and the Tigers won 4-3 in overtime at Baker Rink.
Quinnipiac is currently 7-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the league. The Bobcats have won their last three games, winning at Colgate and sweeping Dartmouth and Harvard last weekend. Quinnipiac also has wins over Ohio State, Bentley and St. Cloud State this season.
Princeton is off the weekend after Thanksgiving and resumes its league slate of games on Dec. 3 and 4 at home against Clarkson and St. Lawrence.
